Tura is proud to announce our new four year Australia Council funding. The Australia Council for the Arts is the Australian Government’s arms length arts funding and advisory body. Commencing in 2017 the funding endorses Tura’s role as a national leader in the development, presentation, advocacy and documentation of new music and the sonic arts.
Tura acknowledges the major achievement of the Australia Council in navigating its way through the stormy waters created by last year’s Federal Budget. The Australia Council’s new Four Year Funding program announced today does indeed support a “Culturally Ambitious Nation”.
However, as a result of the 2015 cuts in funding to the Australia Council, there have been significant losses to artists and arts organisations nationally. We send our sincerest commiserations to those organisations who have not been funded in this round and hope fervently that they can find the deserved support to continue their great work across this trying time.
We stand firm on our commitment to continue to call for the reinstatement of the Australia Council’s Federal Government funding to its pre 2014 levels and also an appropriate plan to increase this funding into the future.
We commit to extending our reach and our partnerships nationally across the sector to enable more artists and more organisations to benefit from our vision.
As we approach our 30th year in 2017, Tura once again thanks the Australia Council for believing in and sharing that vision, and we look forward to delivering extraordinary, challenging and inspiring music and sonic art experiences well into the future.
