John Cage’s Williams Mix Extended: Dafeldecker/Tricoli
7:30pm Tuesday 17 April
Williams Mix Extended is a new interpretation of John Cage’s Williams Mix by Werner Dafeldecker and Valerio Tricoli, originally scored for magnetic tape in 1952. Approaching the original score from a contemporary perspective, this new interpretation of Williams Mix contains a close analysis of the relationship between early tape music and current digital production, including video, allowing for original parameters of the score to be realised within the context of recent audio-visual technologies. Solo percussion from Callum Moncrieff
Werner Dafeldecker (Austria).
His musical projects are often inspired by and deduced from outside influences such as architecture, physics, photography and film.
Valerio Tricoli (Germany)
Valerio is a Berlin-based composer, improviser, sound installation artist, producer, sound engineer and curator bridging musique concréte and conceptual forms of sound with a radical interest in how reality, virtuality and memory relate to each other during the acoustic event.
Callum Moncrieff (Australia)
Perth Percussionist Callum Moncrieff celebrates more Cage and performs the seminal 4’33’ alongside ‘Story’ from Living Room Music and Composed Improvisation for Snare Drum.
