Though Gillian was able to get to the Valley in May this year, border controls meant she couldn’t get back for the return residency in October.

Fortuitously, the stars aligned and WA sound artist Sam Newman and dancer Tara Gower, who was recently joined Tura’s 2021 Sonus3 Kimberley Tour, were able to complete a two-week residency as part of Sound FX based at the Fitzroy Valley District High School. The residency included field recording, song writing, choreography, movement and improvisation, all inspired by experience of Country and showcased in a performance at the school.

“This was a true celebration of meaningful expression and a much needed coming together of community to support and be proud of the commitment shown by everyone involved.”
