Cat Hope Appointed to Head of Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music

Monash University has appointed a leading composer and musician Catherine (Cat) Hope as Professor and Head of the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music.

An accomplished composer, sound artist and musician, Cat has toured with her work throughout Australia and internationally, and is the artistic director of the award-winning new music ensemble Decibel.

Cat is currently based at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, where she lectures in classical music and music technology. She begins her new role at Monash in January next year and says she is “thrilled to be leading the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash toward an exciting and dynamic future.”

Cat’s work has been awarded a range of prizes including the APRA|AMC Award for Excellence in Experimental Music in 2011, 2014 and the Peggy Glanville-Hicks composer residency in 2014.
