James MacMillan is in Perth as a guest of WASO as part of the 8th Totally Huge New Music Festival to conduct WASO's performance of The Confession of Isobel Gowdie and Roger Smalley's Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra.

His composer talk is presented by the UWA School of Music courtesy of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra

Windstrokes in the Kimberley

13 – 25 May

New Music in association with Skywest and Be Active are proud to present Windstrokes in the Kimberley tour, bringing together four of Australia’s leading performers and composers for a unique tour to the Dampier Peninsula, Broome and Kununurra.

Dwellingup Arts Lab

Alan Lamb has taken over the old Dwellingup art gallery, which comes with a four bedroom house. He is converting it into the Dwellingup Arts Lab, a not-for-profit space for artist(s)-in-residence, emerging and established - all mediums, who wish to conduct new and experimental projects.

There will be an opening party to celebrate:
Exhibition featuring works by Hines, Fitzsimmons, Tippett and others; Music by Claire Norelli and friends from WAAPA; Audio-visuals of bush recovering from fire (bring an FM walkman with earphones to tune in); Sound art from Robin Reid; Local musicians and dancing into the night.
