James MacMillan is in Perth as a guest of WASO as part of the 8th Totally Huge New Music Festival to conduct WASO's performance of The Confession of Isobel Gowdie and Roger Smalley's Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra.
His composer talk is presented by the UWA School of Music courtesy of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra

Alan Lamb has taken over the old Dwellingup art gallery, which comes with a four bedroom house. He is converting it into the Dwellingup Arts Lab, a not-for-profit space for artist(s)-in-residence, emerging and established - all mediums, who wish to conduct new and experimental projects.
There will be an opening party to celebrate:
Exhibition featuring works by Hines, Fitzsimmons, Tippett and others; Music by Claire Norelli and friends from WAAPA; Audio-visuals of bush recovering from fire (bring an FM walkman with earphones to tune in); Sound art from Robin Reid; Local musicians and dancing into the night.
