DADAA: Calling local composers and performers

a unique opportunity to be part of a community project.

The Lost Generation refers to a group of people with intellectual disabilities who have been institutionalised for most of their lives and have little or no connection to their community. Each has a story yet to be told. The Lost Generation Film Project will be producing a series of short biographical films using a mix of documentary, drama and animation styles.

DADAA (Disability in the Arts, Disadvantage in the Arts, Australia Inc) are looking for local composers and performers who are interested in creating soundtracks of original or pre-recorded music for the films about the participants. The project will work with approximately 600 individuals over the next 5 years. This initial 6-month cycle will produce 50 x 1-3 minute films.

If you are interested, please contact Janine Boreland, Producer for the Lost Generation Project at janine@dadaawa.asn.au or phone (08) 9430 6616.

MFO at the Swan Basement

The Mace Francis Orchestra was formed by band-leader and composer Mace Francis to experiment with composition, in the style of the great modern big bands lead by Bob Brookmeyer, Thad Jones, Bill Holman and Maria Schneider. The result has been the coming together of some of Perth’s finest up and coming musicians and composers to create exciting new music for big band.
