Tura wins Classical Music award!

On Monday night the Australian music industry celebrated the success of this year’s most outstanding Australian contemporary classical music achievements at the 2006 Classical Music Awards presented by APRA and the Australian Music Centre.

Western Australian Tura New Music was the proud winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Australian Music in a Regional Area category for the “Voices Over WA” project. Voices over WA featured The Song Company presenting concerts and workshops throughout the Kimberley and Pilbara regions in May 2005.

This prestigious award acknowledges the considerable commitment Tura has to regional Western Australia including projects such as Violins in the Outback, Gavin Bryars in Broome and the soon to be launched Ruined Piano Sanctuary in York.
