The 7th Totally Huge New Music Festival begins in exactly one week and a whole lot of wonderful things are about to start happening.
Here are just a few things to look out for...
Perth composer and Ruined Piano pioneer Ross Bolleter, will transform the central space at PICA with Ruined Pianos from around WA. Each piano not only has its unique range of sounds and sculptural idiosyncrasies but brings with it its own physical and social history.

American composer George Crumb’s reputation as a composer of hauntingly beautiful scores has made him one of the most frequently performed composers in today’s musical world. Perth group Concord will perform one of Crumb’s best known works Vox Balaenae (Voice of the Whale) accompanied by the ethereal Dreamscape (Images II), also by Crumb and Dream by Peter Sculthorpe.

WAM, the West Australian Music Industry Association Inc, has opened it’s call for WA acts of all styles to apply for inclusion in the 2006 WAMi Festival and Kiss My WAMi compilation CD / DVD. Exposure in the festival and CD has benefited many of WA's recent success stories such as The John Butler Trio and Eskimo Joe. It's not just about pop rock bands, WAM is committed to showcasing WA music in all it's diversity. The festival is going from strength to strength and reaches 2 million Australian's through media coverage alone. And the CD / DVD is distributed widely through WAM's industry and media networks, including at South by Southwest & MIDEM and through Austrade & AMRAP.
