This latest dance piece from Jambird directors Chrissie Parrott (choreographer) and Jonathan Mustard (composer) takes you into a sonic garden filled with light and dizzying choreography.
The installation provides an opportunity to experience dance in an entirely new mode. An audience is able to view, walk through and listen to translations of human movement. These are translations that escape the usual medium of the dancing body to find expression in projected images of the code that lies beneath a computer animation of the choreography. This same coded material is used to generate an immersive soundscape within the installation space, presenting an alternative, auditory translation of the dance. The transposition of the choreography into sound is effected using several different techniques, which are often heard simultaneously in a multi-layered, polyphonic rendition of the dance movement.
