The enchanting voices of The Song Company will be joined by Fremantle’s own new music ensemble, pi, presenting two separate programs of new works by Australian Composers and some enthralling improvisations.
pi is a unique blend of strings, winds and percussion underpinned by the rich reedy sounds of the accordion and harmonium. Characterised by driving rhythms, sensual strings, hypnotic cyclic structures and a vivid palette of instrumental colour, pi’s music draws for inspiration and materials on the music of India, Africa, Indonesia, South America, Central Europe, blues, jazz and minimalism within a context of western classical art music.
‘pi never fail to create music that stirs the soul and connects with people’ Rosalind Appleby, The West Australian
‘This group of players took the audience on an enlightened path through a musical extravaganza of sheer pleasure’ Stan Cole, Fremantle Herald
