Sunset at Cottesloe - Lotterywest Festival Finale

Nova Ensemble, Tetrafide Percussion, Defying Gravity & BellsWest

29 February 2004, Cottesloe Beach, sunset (6.30pm)

A shoreline of musicians will help Perth celebrate the last sunset of the 2004 Perth International Arts Festival. In a world premiere of this Western Australian composition, 50 musicians create a shimmering, rhythmic ripple that plays with the waves on Cottesloe Beach.

Tura New Music has commissioned this new work by David Pye & Steve Richter in collaboration with Tim White and members of Tetrafide Percussion & Nova Ensemble. The piece features percussion, mega bass clarinet, massed handbells and more.

The music will combine with a series of Indian-themed surprises looking forward to Perth Festival's 2005 Indian Ocean focus.
