Tura New Music in association with PICA presents, as part of the Biennale of Elelctronic Arts Perth
The Collector
Laura Kavanaugh & Ian Birse
Canadian composers and sound artists, Ian Birse and Laura Kavanaugh, are undertaking a two-week residency in Perth during November. The artists will be undertaking workshops, and the performance of their interactive project, The Collector, at PICA. The Collector is a four-day multimedia project utilising images and sounds sourced from the surrounding locale. Artists and the public are invited to participate in this creative process, which will culminate in a public performance.
PICA’s performance space will become an open studio for four days in which the sounds and images will be manipulated and recorded. The workshop is intended for people with minimal computer skills. Musicians, dancers, visual and theatre artists, interested in exploring real-time video and electronic/experimental sound production are encouraged to participate. Workshops will also be held for those interested in the MAX/MSP/Jitter programming environment.
