Formed by Andrew Brooks and Berish Bilander who spent four years studying together at WAAPA in Perth, _motion performs original contemporary improvised music. Drawing on a variety of influences including jazz, contemporary classical, experimental rock and minimalism, the group attempts to blur the lines between composition and improvisation, with a focus on spontaneous interaction.
Joining Brooks and Bilander is Nick Abbey on double bass and Hugh Harvey on the drum set. Having performed extensively in Melbourne throughout 2009, _motion will record their debut album in early September.
