The final Club Zho for 2007 will captivate audiences with an energetic night of experimental chamber and electronic works from some of Perth’s most charismatic young and emerging new music composers.
This is a premier event and a rare opportunity to experience Perth’s finest emerging new music ensemble. This performance is curated by Cat Hope, Head of Composition and Music Technology at WAAPA, and will feature inspiring and refreshing new compositions such as Clare Nina Norelli’s You can Leave If You Want for trombone quartet, Claire King’s Thread for strings and percussion, Jeremy Poole-Johnston’s Emerald Quartet for percussion quartet, Kelly Curran’s Au Crepescule for 2 flutes and violins and Joe Stawarz’s percussion quartet.
Axis 21 is an exciting New Music ensemble at WA Academy of Performing Arts, Edith Cowan University featuring innovative young composers and performers capable of extending the boundaries of composition to inspiring new dimensions.
The composition program at WAAPA encourages composers to perform one another’s works and involves residencies and guest lectures with composers from far and wide. Axis 21’s primary function is to perform student works, whilst also performing works from renowned Western Australian and Australian composers.
