In Your Face
Schimpfluch-Gruppe (Switzerland) Justice Yeldham
The Bakery goes extreme on July 16 as part of Tura’s Club Zho program, featuring eccentric performers from Switzerland, the Schimpfluch-Gruppe, with bloodsport performer Justice Yeldham along for the ride.
Schimpfluch-Gruppe is internationally renowned for performances of short sharp bursts of noise, punctuated (quite literally) with “playing” with vomit, blood, and other bodily orifices fluids.
Schimpfluch-Gruppe thrives on performing a more psychologically challenging and physically demanding artform, and whilst it sounds disgusting to watch, has been described “…both Phillips and Eb.er manage to make their gross-out sessions numbingly effective manifestations of the nether regions of the human psyche.”
Justice Yeldham is the perfect accompaniment. The Australian radical performer plasters his body with effects pedals, and then blows, screams and presses his face against a glass pane equipped with a microphone that he holds against himself. More often than not his extreme performance results in blood, a manifestation of his passion for his artform.
“So he stands there inexorably taking up the fight with the glass pane, rubbing and squeezing his face across it, producing sounds. Then the glass breaks... “
