Tim Brady (Canada)
Solo Guitar Performance, Wed 11th July
Supported by Pro Arte Collective
"Brady slapped, popped, plucked, chorded and pick-slid through his own composition... never failing to provide the audience with a new trick. ...A virtuosic performance of captivating improvisations and deep explorations into sound." - ERIC LEHMAN - MUSICWORKS MAGAZINE #92 ‘05
Touring composer/guitarist Tim Brady (Canada) will perform a solo concert at The Bakery as part of Tura New Music’s monthly new music night Club Zho.
Renowned for his innovative electroacoustic, jazz and free improvisation guitar works, and described by critics as a true virtuoso and mad scientist of guitar sound, Tim’s performance at Zho will provide a surprising earful for those after something different.
In 2004 Tim was awarded the Prix OPUS Composer of the Year by the Conseil québécois de la musique, and in 2006 received the Jan V. Matejcek Award from the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada, for the most concert music performance royalties in Canada for 2005 (francophone category).
He has been commissioned and performed by numerous ensembles such as the Orchestre symphonique de Montreal and the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, and is currently the president of the Canadian New Music Network. Tim has also released 14 Cds as both a composer and performer, with his latest release GO (Guitar Obsession) released in 2006.
Fans can witness Tim’s technical wizardry at The Bakery on Wednesday 11th July.
