tujiko noriko

August 15

Club Zho 63 will feature Tujiko Noriko, a Japanese artist at the forefront of abstract-pop. Tujiko's unique brand of Japanese electro pop features uniquely branded cut-up electronics, sweet vocal harmonies and distorted lullaby aesthetics. Selling out a previous Australian appearance at the 2004 What Is Music? in Brisbane, Tujiko Norikoís performance at Club Zho is one not to miss!

Tujiko Noriko was born in Osaka and now resides in Paris, France. As an independent artist she makes music with numerous subtle layers, a kind of digital avant-pop, with laptop, largely Japanese lyrics and sweet vocal harmonies.

Tujiko first came to attention after her work for labels like Mego and Tomlab. She has collaborated with Japanese musicians Aki Onda, Aoki Takamasa, Riow Arai and European artists Lionel Fernandez and Peter Rehberg. Since she has lived in Paris, she has worked with the French Dance Company DACM and the choreographers GisËle Vienne and Etienne Bideau-Rey, collaborating with Peter Rehberg for "Stereotypie", a recent work by DACM. The music from the piece was released by Asphodel in 2004. Tujiko has recently finished her first movie, featuring ChloÈ Fabre from the group Exchpoptrue.
