IRENE MOON (USA), LUX MAMMOTH AND PAUL WROTH

OCTOBER 15 2001

A Champagne Dancing Party and Question/Answer Symposium

"... Educational Opportunity #29, IM Laboratories presents for your enjoyment a series of entomological lectures recently dedicated to the renown insect physiologist – V.B. Wigglesworth. Irene Moon lectures extensively with recent lectography including "Moth vs Mothman", a learning session on the Manduca Sexta, "I’ll Be Seeing You Dreadful Creature" a slide show introduction to our most domestic Blatellidae and "The Social Hour" - etiquette for even the refined living six-legged creature. Your quality company required, proper dress adored…"

Originating from Athens, Georgia the entomology obsessed Irene Moon has been delighting and bewildering audiences around the USA and Europe with her bizarre but extremely enlightening "learning opportunities". Now its Australia’s turn!

While Moons concept of the learning opportunity as performance art may seem unusual, her shows involve film, sound art and cabaret, presenting the facts in a fashion that combines the styles of David Lynch Cruellia De Ville and a strict yet nurturing fourth grade teacher. Wit and humour are important in her work, and she describes her sound work as "Laboratory Muzak". She knows her topic well, being an actual employee in an entomology laboratory.

Moon is also a part of Athens band The Noisettes, and their latest release FLORALALDEHYDE features recordings of an insect biochemistry laboratory. She also performs with the Melted Men, with whom she has toured extensively.

Also on this Zho for the first time are Perth’s infamous noise duo Lux Mammoth, recently returned from an extensive USA tour, doing something out of the ordinary. Paul Wroth, a very eclectic electronic composer, DJ, inventor and sampler extraordinaire will also be performing.
